Design Set Up & Rubber Pressing

Design Set Up

Making a new plate can sometimes be a daunting task. Let us help by setting up your plates for you. Your artwork is arranged on sheets, up to 8.5″ x 11″, to fit as many images as possible. Your images will need to be in black and white, very sharp and distinct, and right reading – meaning they look as they should when stamped.
Once we have your plate set up, we will then send it to our Engraver. He will use the artwork we set up to produce a magnesium master plate. This is done with a chemical etching process, which gives us a deep etch stamp.
After we receive your master plate, we can then make a mold of your plate using a matrix board. From there we are ready to start pressing your rubber.
*You are more than welcome to set up your own images and use the Engraver or your choosing as well.

Rubber Pressing

Our rubber comes on big rolls, which we cut to fit each plate size. Then we place the cut sheet of rubber onto the matrix board, which now carries your stamp images, into our vulcanizing press. With the correct heat and pressure applied you are left with a high quality sheet of unmounted rubber.
You can buy the sheets unmounted or we can attach a foam cushion backing to your stamp sheets for an additional charge.
All stamps we produce are made right here in the Midwest from high quality, thick red gum rubber, deeply etched to give you a crisp image for stamping.
